Valves

What is a valve?

A valve is component which can regulate the flow rate of liquids. Apart from the flow rate, they also regulate the direction in which the gas or liquid should alternatively flow. Thus, valves belong to the group, shut-off valves. The word valve comes from the Latin ventus, which is used as a generic term for fittings. Related terms are cock, slide or flap, depending on the design. There are different types of valves.

The following valves are used in shipping and industry:

What is a pneumatic valve?

Another type of valve that finds its application in pneumatics is the pneumatic valve. Like any other valve, the valve has a control function that shuts off or regulates media such as compressed air or oils. The control of the pneumatic valve remains the same. As the name suggests, pneumatic valves are often used in the area of the same name, pneumatics. However, there is a further area of application. Pneumatic valves are therefore also used in hydraulics. For example, pneumatic valves are used in potentially explosive working areas, such as on offshore structures or in the chemical industry. In the technical application of hydraulics and pneumatics one speaks of the generic term fluid technology.

Both EBRO Armaturen and Parker are well-known manufacturers and suppliers , with whom we have a long-term sales partnership.

Where are valves used?

The areas of application for valves, are, among others the following areas:

  • Chemical Industry
  • Offshore Structures
  • Food Industry
  • Medical Technology
  • Water Purification

What valve functions are available?

There are various valve functions

Control Valves

One speaks of a control valve if it releases or blocks the path of a liquid or regulates its flow direction. In order to determine the differences between control valves, information about the number of connections and switching positions is required. These valves are described differently.

  • 2/2- Control Valves
  • 3/2- Control Valves
  • 4/2- Control Valves
  • 5/2- Control Valves
  • 5/3- Control Valves

Further valve functions are:

  • Pressure, Shut-Off and Flow Valves
  • Proportional Safety Valves
  • Logic Valves
